UFO Robo Grendizer is a brief manga edition of the anime bearing the same name. It was launched during the broadcast of the anime, narrating the tale of Duke Fleed, the ruler of Planet Fleed. Duke disguises himself as a farm laborer named Daisuke to fight against the Vegan Empire, the culprits of destroying his planet. They also happen to be the creators of Grendizer, which Duke stole to combat their forces. Even though it was not originally recognized as part of the Mazinger sequence, Koji Kabuto and the Mazinger mechas made an appearance in the series, making it a quasi-sequel. Grendizer marked the introduction of the idea of a transformable robot and a space mecha. These concepts influenced other mecha series in the future. It received immense fame in Japan, Canada, France, Italy, and the Arab World and continues to have a strong fan base in these countries to this day. (mangaupdates.com)

The story follows Blue, a descendant of Tinos colonists from Terra, as he tries to survive on the harsh planet using a chest implant called the Biomatrix. However, Blue is not alone in his struggle, as the Planetary Government of Tinos seeks to eliminate The Lost, a group of rebels unwilling to submit to their tyrannical rule. The powerful government controls the production and distribution of Biomatrix, forcing their authority on any who wish to survive. Amidst this dystopian world, Blue meets Fats, an Artificial Intelligence with incredible strength. Their story intersects and alters the fate of the Lost Children and the evolution of humanity. It's a meeting that will change man and machine forever.
The first segment of the narrative takes place in U.C. 0091 right after the First Neo Zeon War has ended. It revolves around the ReZeon forces that have gathered on Mars and their newly appointed head, Alicia Zabi, who assumes the role of Supreme Commander. She greets the remaining members of the Titans seeking sanctuary in the Martian headquarters. The second installment is known as "Arcadia of Zwitterion."
