When rumours began to circulate regarding who was responsible, it was said that the Golden Witch Beatrice magically caused the tragic events to occur. To reveal the truth behind what happened, the Witch of Miracles Bernkastel presents an alternate reality where Battler Ushiromiya does not come to Rokkenjima and the Golden Witch does not exist. Instead, the mystery child who was abandoned nineteen years ago has been designated the uncontested heir to the family as Lion Ushiromiya, whose existence holds the source of everything presented thus far. To solve the mystery, Bernkastel brings Willard H. However, a phantom of Eva's dark side emerges and uncontrollably begins to wreck havoc on the island as Beatrice's successor.

In 1998, Battler Ushiromiya's younger sister Ange has lived a miserable life being raised by her Aunt Eva, the only survivor of the murders on Rokkenjima. Bullied and unhappy, Ange finds solace in the diary of her cousin Maria and the world of magic until she rejects its existence. However, with Eva's death and the inheritance of Beatrice's titles, Ange receives an offer from the witch Bernkastel on how to bring back her lost family. Meanwhile, in 1986, Battler Ushiromiya and the Golden Witch Beatrice continue their game, with Battler aided by Ange, hailing from twelve years in the future, in hopes of saving their family at last.

The Ushiromiya family makes an annual pilgrimage to Rokkenjima, the island where they gather for a reunion hosted by the odd patriarch, Kinzou, who is in poor health. The family members are preoccupied with feuding over the inheritance and the coveted title of Kinzou's successor. A typhoon outside matches the turmoil brewing in their hearts as they argue. Battler, Kinzou's grandson, returns after a long absence expecting a smooth reunion. But Kinzou has different plans; he introduces a peculiar game which involves finding his hidden treasure. The victor will become the family leader. However, the game turns grim as participants are used as "sacrifices" to bring back the Millennial Witch of Rokkenjima, Beatrice. Murders and violence ensue, casting doubt on whether the work of magic or the acts of one of the family members. Despite the ensuing disasters, Battler remains skeptical of the occult, questioning what truly happened to those closest to him.

Meanwhile, the game board between the Golden Witch Beatrice and Battler Ushiromiya commences once more—bringing new yet unlikely accomplices to participate in the duel.
