Randy "Ryo" Maclean, a half-Japanese detective, is newly assigned to the 27th precinct at the New York City Police Department. His partner is Dee Laytner, an attractive and impulsive veteran who immediately takes an interest in Ryo, causing confusion for the new detective. Their first case involves protecting Bikky, a young boy whose father was killed due to his involvement in a criminal drug trafficking business.
