Randy "Ryo" Maclean, a half-Japanese detective, is newly assigned to the 27th precinct at the New York City Police Department. His partner is Dee Laytner, an attractive and impulsive veteran who immediately takes an interest in Ryo, causing confusion for the new detective. Their first case involves protecting Bikky, a young boy whose father was killed due to his involvement in a criminal drug trafficking business. Despite Bikky's denial of any knowledge about his father's actions prior to his murder, Ryo and Dee must safeguard him from potential threats and uncover any information he may be withholding. As Ryo and Dee work together more closely, their relationship grows stronger. However, the question remains whether Ryo will ever reciprocate Dee's romantic feelings.
