After Satella wards off the aggressors, Subaru pledges to help her in her quest to capture the thief. After a few bizarre events, the pair ends up in an underground cellar where stolen goods are kept. When they infiltrate the cellar, they are unexpectedly attacked by a shadowy assailant resulting in both of them receiving fatal injuries. Subaru awakens to find himself transported back in time to the morning of that same day and begins a complex cycle where he relives past experiences.
