From the Animeraider: Japan is a seismically active country, so the occasional trembler isn't anything that people get too worked up about. They happen and it's unfortunate, but in general Japan is prepared. But there is one scientist who believes that he has found proof that a recent quake has triggered a cataclysmic event, and that within a year Japan will sink into the sea. Now if he can get anyone to believe him before it’s too late… Also known as Japan Sinks, this is based on the award-winning novel and movie of the same name. It's a well-written and complex story, and will seem like it's about something else before it gets into the meat of things. Well worth the effort.

From Adachi's Universe: We start with our main protagonist, Shichimi, bidding farewell as he readies for his journey into Edo (on our Earth, Edo was the old name of Tokyo before it became the capital of Japan). His mother has just died, only leaving him a walnut and a request for him to go to his half-siblings. Shichimi bids farewell to a sternly old man, who is a firefighter. We can tell this from the symbol on his cloak. This symbol is also on Shichimi's cloak. Upon reaching the town of Edo, Shichimi meets a mysterious man, who ridicules the peace of the world as an illusion.

Set on a frozen planet littered with alien artifacts, Ningyou no Kuni weaves a tale of a young man and his small but fateful encounter.

Set in the far-future in 28XX, this series of interconnected stories follows the relationship between humans and androids. Two twin brothers, also androids, are "puppet masters." Arashi (Storm) has the ability to animate androids or "dolls" for a specific purpose and Shizuka (Quiet) can shut them down after they have fulfilled their roles.

Neo-Saitama is a city of the future, with a dirty and dystopian ambiance where blood of the inhabitants mixes with acid rain. Within the city, the Soukai Syndicate reigns supreme, overseeing a lethal army of cyborg ninjas who intimidate and terrorize the people. Caught in a continuous cycle of violence arising from the ninjas' struggle for dominance, survival is the only hope for the vulnerable. However, there is one warrior, Ninja Slayer, who is determined to avenge the wicked ninjas and end their reign of terror over Neo-Saitama forever. Their objective is simple: obliterate every single ninja, regardless of the cost.

After being awarded the Nobel Prize, child prodigy Alice T.P. Riida runs away from home and creates the first Artificial Human, Ninomae Shii. Along with Shiratori Jun and Kurosaki Yaoki, Shii now struggles to find out for what reason he was made for.

After the war, there are many "Extends" in the city, people whose bodies were modified to make them into dangerous weapons. Inui Juuzou is one of them, and he has no memories of his life and body before his head was transformed into a gun. Strangely enough, his head-gun is designed so that only someone behind him can pull the trigger. Juuzou makes a living by taking on cases involving Extends in the city, and he is assisted by Mary, an intelligent young woman that he has taken under his protection.

One of the first published works by famed Berserk mangaka, Miura Kentaro. It's a short story about survival in a post-apocalyptic era.

This addition to the World Witches franchise focuses on the 506th Joint Fighter Wing; a squadron of witches tasked with protecting innocent people from the Neuroi following the liberation of Gallia. These Witches are referred to as the "Noble Witches" because of their social status and their dedication to serving the needs of the less fortunate.

Modoru, who works at a doll maintenance factory, has always admired his co-worker Susumu's courteous work on the dolls. One day, while only the two of them are working, Modoru is caught up by how kindly Susumu's fingers move. Noticing it, Susumu mumbles 'I want to do this to a living body', which leaves Modoru with a tingling feeling in his heart.
