Despite her rebellious nature, tendency to forget, and overall disruptive behavior, Touzai Television continues to feature her in numerous programs. Investigative reporter Rokurou begins to hear whispers about Toroko and embarks on a quest to uncover the truth. Little does he know, the strange link between Toroko and a demon, as well as his own disturbing involvement in their bond, will soon be revealed.

There is an advanced civilization on the dark side of the moon comprising of two families, the Takenouchi and Umenouchi clans. Leading as acting queen is Takenouchi Fumiya, with her daughter Kaguya as the next heir to the throne. Despite Kaguya's privileged position, she is unsatisfied with the inflexible laws of their society and opposes her mother's reign, giving her a rebellious nature. Unfortunately, Fumiya is ill with a severe condition that she has hidden from her daughter. Knowing that she cannot conceal it any longer, Fumiya decides to send Kaguya to Earth with an influential katana that signifies their family's control over the moon. Fumiya trusts that this transfer would strengthen Kaguya and help her reclaim what was taken from them by the Umenouchi family. As the Umenouchi clan relies on the sword for power over the moon, Kaguya must mature and find the strength within herself to regain her rightful inheritance.

Upon regaining consciousness, the main character finds himself in an unfamiliar dwelling with no recollection of his identity or whereabouts. As he explores the abandoned abode, he stumbles upon the remains of a decapitated woman whom he assumes to be a complete stranger. Before long, he is rescued by a woman named Shio who addresses him as "Iori." However, he cannot be certain that this is his true identity. Moreover, when Shio urges him to conceal the cadaver without any hesitation while asking for his trust, he is left bewildered about whether or not he should comply.

Mischievous spirits and demons known as Youkai have been causing trouble in Japan for centuries. Kotoko's grandfather made a living by banishing them, but she never thought of her lineage as particularly valuable. That is, until Kotoko meets Kuro, a Youkai physician. She never knew Youkai had doctors. As Kotoko learns more about their healing practices, she realizes that it's much harder to heal Youkai than to just banish them. This volume also includes a one-shot called "Kiraboshi Tentou."
